“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”
As a company you want your business to be future-proof and we can help you get there. In the case of Wienerberger, a leading manufacturer of building materials, that means they will be leasing solar parks from us for the next 16 years. Ecorus, with its ‘One Stop Solar Shop’, is not only responsible for developing, building, and maintaining all the solar projects but also provides financing. The PV-installations on three locations are running and before the end of the year three more will be developed, built and made operational. This partnership guarantees a sustainable future for Wienerberger and recurring revenue for us.
Currently, approximately 6 MW of solar energy capacity is being installed at various Wienerberger locations. The ultimate goal is to produce 50 MW, thereby providing energy to all factories. These are technically challenging projects, as they take place on the roofs of active plants. “We adhere to the highest safety standards, which are crucial when working in such complex environments,” explains Bauke Bakker.
“Sustainability aligns with the products we make. In collaboration with Ecorus, we want to maximize the use of our roofs for solar energy, an important aspect of our sustainability strategy,” explains Peter van der Vliet of Wienerberger. The current solar energy projects contribute significantly to the sustainability of Wienerberger’s electricity consumption, in line with the ambition to meet 63% of its energy needs sustainably.
