Smart CPPA improves business case GLP

Our 15-year old network in the solar industry helps us to create unique partnerships. For instance this new one between GLP Europe, Scholt Energy, and Jan Linders, facilitated by our experience in development, EPC/O&M, and CPPAs. This partnership bridges two significant customer groups through our CPPA services—logistics real estate & multi-site (food) retail.

At Ecorus, we assist many companies in the multi-site (food) retail sector by installing solar solutions. Among our clients are Hessing, Lidl, Van der Valk, Aldi, Albert Heijn and Bol.com. These companies significantly advance their ESG goals through solar energy. When their energy needs surpass what their solar installations can provide, we offer Corporate Power Purchase Agreements (CPPAs) to help them procure solar energy from other PV projects we have built and developed. This ensures they meet their sustainability targets and align better with their CSRD reporting.

In this case we have supported our logistics real estate client, GLP Clean Energy, by offering a comprehensive ‘One Stop Solar Shop’, including Development Consultancy, Solar Deployment, and Lifecycle Management. Additionally, a smart CPPA has improved the business case.

Stefano Fissolo, Senior Director of Renewables at GLP: “After our earlier projects with Ecorus in Oss (2.5 MWp) and Zevenaar (16.4 MWp), we are delighted with this third project and collaboration. Here, Ecorus assisted us with full development and deployment, significantly smoothing the process. Second, signing the CPPA with Jan Linders in advance allowed us to improve the business case. We take great pride in seeing our partnership with Ecorus grow and are pleased to work with reliable parties like Jan Linders and Scholt Energy.”

For Jan Linders, the CPPA offers price certainty due to stable and sustainable energy prices and supply, making this CPPA an ideal solution to combat energy price volatility. The retailer receives the solar energy produced in Belfeld, delivered by their energy supplier Scholt Energy. Michiel van der Steen explains: “It’s great to see so many of our corporate clients taking steps to reach their ESG targets by signing a CPPA. It was a pleasure to assist our client Jan Linders in signing this CPPA with GLP Europe, supported by Ecorus.”

Mike Dusseldorp, Head of PPA and Energy Markets at Ecorus: “Our solid network and preference for working with stable, long-term partners, combined with our CPPA expertise, have enabled us to close several CPPAs with our partners GLP Europe and Scholt Energy in a short period of time. Thanks to our strong partnerships with all involved parties, the collaboration and contractual process have been very professional and efficient. We are pleased to add Jan Linders to our growing list of companies in the food retail sector that we have recently helped with a CPPA.”
