Technical masterpiece fire safety
On behalf of Heylen Vastgoed, we installed a powerful solar power plant on the new building of the Royal Munt in Utrecht in 2020. Coins have been minted there since 1567 and the work will be carried out from the new location for the next hundred years. The solar power plant is a technical tour de force that meets the highest fire safety requirements. This is reflected not only in the high-quality materials used, but also in the design architecture, such as a fire-resistant roof covering, roof penetrations and distances from the building compartments. All this was achieved in close consultation with the Royal Dutch Munt’s insurance company. The building is not connected to the public gas grid, so electricity is the only source of energy. Remarkably, 100% of the Royal Dutch Munt’s total annual energy needs are now covered by the solar energy generated. From now on, money will be minted on solar energy.
