Record number of solar panels installed by Lefier and Ecorus

In 2023, no fewer than 3,000 social rental homes of the Lefier housing association will be equipped with solar panels, or a solar power installation, by Ecorus. This means immediate benefits for tenants, because solar panels on the roof can quickly save several hundred euros per year on their energy bills. This form of sustainability will continue unabated next year and Lefier and Ecorus expect to provide at least the same number of homes with solar energy.

By bundling the installation of solar panels per block, street or even district as much as possible, work can be done quickly and efficiently. Lefier offers tenants the choice of whether or not they want to participate in the solar panel project and what number of panels they want. Almost all tenants take advantage of the offer: the Ecorus recruitment team has achieved a participation rate of 83 percent. And after installation, people are very satisfied with the solar panels. Tenants rate the installations with an average score of 8.

Proud of a beautiful milestone

Emma Mijic, Lefier’s planned maintenance manager, is proud of the milestone. “The energy bill is still high and many of our tenants are happy to be able to save on this with solar panels on the roof. Some tenants ask us for such an installation themselves, in other cases we offer it when we carry out maintenance on the home. Only thanks to careful planning and a reliable partner were we able to achieve this incredible number in 2023, an experience that we will take with us into 2024, where we will continue to install solar power installations unabated.”

Financial benefit for 3,000 tenants

Ecorus director Sander van der Laan is also happy with the collaboration: “We are extremely proud of our collaboration and the record number of solar panels we have installed together with Lefier. Fitting three thousand homes with solar panels in one year is a great achievement. With this milestone we have been able to help many tenants with a financial benefit.” In 2024, Ecorus and Lefier will continue at full speed with installing solar power installations on rental properties.
