Van der Valk Hotels has placed sustainability high on its agenda and wants to take major steps with solar energy in the new year. That is why Ecorus – market leader in the implementation of industrial solar energy projects – has chosen as a partner with the intention of supplying at least 40 hotels in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany with solar power. The installations are recommended on the roofs of the hotels and the construction of 20 powerful solar carports of 500 kWp is also included in the national project. The green energy generated will be reduced by hotels themselves.
Construction of the solar power installations at Van der Valk Volendam, Van der Valk Sassenheim, Van der Valk Gilze Rijen and Van der Valk Waalwijk will start in January.
“We are a family business and we also think of our descendants by reducing CO2.” Steven Zeeuw van der Laan, Van der Valk Hotels
“Of course we are very proud that the largest hotel chain in the Netherlands can be supplied with solar energy. We already know the hotel formula for its excellent quality, price and guest experience; taking responsibility for the climate and the environment is good for this. We are very much looking forward to flying the solar powered toucan.” Ron Schaafsma, head of sales, Ecorus Business
