M&G Group, a Dutch producer of flue venting, ventilation and roofing solutions, and Ecorus have teamed up to meet the manufacturer’s strong sustainability ambitions. Direction was given to this ambition by building a rooftop solar park next to the A28 highway. M&G Group has been working on sustainability for some time. Last year, the company built a new factory in Assen-zuid with sustainability, biodiversity and integration into the landscape as important pillars. We will be the investing party (€3.5m) and will lease 2 of the 6MW to the M&G Group.
Investing, leasing & building
With this operational lease, 50% of the plant will be powered by solar energy. This marks a significant step towards reducing energy costs and making M&G’s operations greener by 2024. In addition to the investment and lease construction, we are also pleased to build this project with our ‘One Stop Solar Shop’. This means that we will work on management, development, construction and maintenance. By having everything under one roof, we can guarantee a cost-effective and high-quality process, which is crucial for partners like M&G.
Congestion Management
Due to the size (6MW) of the project, Grid Operator Enexis has asked us to help with congestion management, a hot topic in the solar sector. While we are putting pressure on the energy grid, smart energy management allows us to decrease this pressure during peak moments.
