AMPYR Solar Europe’s largest Dutch solar project inaugurated
This September, Noordoostpolder was officially inaugurated: AMPYR Solar Europe’s largest solar project in the Netherlands, designed and built by Ecorus. The park is an important step toward creating a next-generation energy landscape that combines solar, wind, and storage with a cumulative capacity of more than 1 gigawatt.
With an installed capacity of 96 MWp, powered by more than 159,000 solar panels across 54 hectares, the project avoids around 32,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions every year.
Tarun Agrawal, AMPYR Solar Europe’s CEO, stated: “We are proud to contribute to Europe’s continuing energy transition with the opening of Solar Park Noordoostpolder. The collaboration with our partners has been outstanding and serves as a model for future projects. Solar Park Noordoostpolder underscores our continuing commitment to developing renewable assets in the Netherlands.”
Solar Park Noordoostpolder is part of a 16-kilometre renewable corridor along the IJsselmeer dyke. Together with existing wind farms and planned storage solutions, it forms an integrated energy landscape. By clustering infrastructure, the corridor maximizes efficiency, alleviates grid congestion, and creates a hybrid system that is both powerful and landscape-conscious.
Ecorus transformed AMPYR Solar Europe’s vision into reality with astute insights in design, execution and delivery of the park. This achievement reflects both technical expertise and a shared commitment to accelerating the energy transition in practical ways.
Anusha Varanasi, Ecorus’s Program Manager, commented: “With 96 MWp, Noordoostpolder is an important step toward a 1‑GW hybrid energy corridor. It is the result of relentless ambition meeting top-notch execution and demonstrates how thoughtfully designed infrastructure that is delivered responsibly generates long-term value for both the industry and the society.”
Beyond households, the project will also power industry: long-term energy agreements with companies like Rockwool and VW Kraftwerk GmbH ensure reliable, locally produced green electricity. This underlines how large-scale renewables can serve both communities and businesses, reinforcing resilience and decarbonisation.
For Ecorus, Noordoostpolder is another feather in our cap. It is a project that confirms our ability to deliver large-scale renewables responsibly and efficiently. With every step, we keep showing that net zero can be made practical, predictable and profitable.
