Ascend to sustainability: Heldair II’s solar development lands beside maritime airbase.

We envision a future where the planet does not rely on fossil fuels anymore. Instead, we strive towards a world powered by clean, renewable energy, with the sun as our primary source. To contribute to this vision, we introduce our new solar park Heldair II: approximately 43,000 solar panels producing 25MW of energy.

This project is located next to Maritime Airport De Kooy and Den Helder Airport which makes it an interesting business case. As Ecorus, we have taken on the responsibility of overseeing the entire development and investment for this project (estimated 14 million euros). Securing subsidies has already been done and permits are irrevocable. The construction will start in Q4 of 2024.

Only One Stop Solar Shop in Europe

Operating as the only One Stop Solar Shop in Europe, we provide a broad range of services to facilitate the development and realization of such projects. Our offerings include Development Consultancy, Solar Deployment, and Life Cycle Management. With our special way of working we create ownership, improve efficiency and lower costs.

Development Consultancy forms the foundation of our approach, encompassing advisory services, project development, and guidance throughout the entire solar energy project lifecycle. In the case of Heldair II, we navigated challenges such as its proximity to Maritime Airport De Kooy and Den Helder Airport. Therefore, we needed compliance with aviation standards by incorporating anti-glare solar panels.

In addition to adapting our development to meet aviation standards, we have also considered the potential impact of helicopter operations, such as downwash, on our solar park. This examination has been pivotal in ensuring that our installation remains robust and efficient, even in the unique conditions presented by the nearby heliports. Our approach demonstrates a commitment to not only complying with existing standards but also to anticipating and mitigating any possible environmental effects associated with the proximity of these airports.

Enhancing biodiversity

As we progress towards the construction phase, Solar Deployment becomes instrumental. This includes technical design, procurement, execution, and us managing the entire EPC process. We pay attention to landscape integration, blending the new park with the existing ‘nollenlandschap’. It also means enhancing biodiversity through strategic seed planting and the creation of nature-friendly water banks.

Upon completion, our commitment to Life Cycle Management ensures the sustained performance of Heldair II. This involves proactive and reactive maintenance, continuous monitoring, PR & Availability guarantees, eco-conscious upkeep, cleaning services, and comprehensive camera surveillance.
